Bitcoin's price-metric basket is experiencing its longest capitulation since the FTX debacle, according to onchain analytics platform Glassnode. This phenomenon is tracked through 45 Bitcoin price metrics, which are currently in their longest 'capitulation' phase since the collapse of FTX in late 2022. The Bitcoin Cycle Position Heatmap, a tool created by Glassnode's co-founder, Rafael Schultze-Kraft, combines data from 45 indicators to provide an overall picture of market health. The heatmap's blue color indicates a period of 'capitulation', while red signifies the euphoria of momentum towards cycle peaks. The current 'capitulation' phase began after a euphoric phase in November 2021, coinciding with the FTX collapse and Bitcoin's last bear-market bottom of $15,600. This extended 'capitulation' period is notable as it has not yet reached the deep blue that previously marked a floor, suggesting a prolonged period of market downturn. The heatmap also focuses on the profitability of the Bitcoin investor base, distinguishing between short-term (STH) and long-term (LTH) holders. This nuanced approach is crucial as certain metrics, such as dormancy, change over time, requiring a more complex reading for accurate cycle signals. Despite the market downturn, Glassnode's Market Pulse report highlights the resilience of market participants. On-chain activity has strengthened, with daily active addresses and entity-adjusted transfer volumes increasing, indicating a notable rise in network engagement and economic throughput. The stabilization of capital outflows is particularly impressive, considering the knee-jerk reaction by investors following the low-entropy bug exploit in Coldcard hardware wallets. The uptick in on-chain transactions of 1 BTC or less is reminiscent of the aftermath of the FTX implosion, with a daily tally of 39,600 BTC on July 31, compared to 39,900 on November 16, 2022. This data suggests that despite the current 'capitulation', the market is showing signs of resilience and potential recovery, which is a fascinating development in the volatile world of Bitcoin.
